No there were no twins. Yes, her mother is fine and happy. Yes their marriage is intact and they are quite happy. And no, she's not mormon. ..Janikka's family is Laestadian Lutheran and what a family it is. All of these photographs are of people related by blood or by marriage to Janikka. Laestadians live in a few communities throughout the United States, Longview, Washington, Minnestoa, Phoenix and Prescott, Arizona, Michigan and are where most of them are based. For the most part Laestadians fly under the radar. They are hard working, church going folks. They attend public school, work in the trades and in offices and go to church many times a week. ..I've known the Bymans for more than five years and in that time I've learned a bit about how they live though we don't talk all that much about religion. They don't drink, dance, wear make up or listen to music essentially, anything that they believe will interfere with their relationship with God is off limits. In addition to meeting all of Janikka's brothers and sisters and cousins I've been to quite a few weddings and started to meet some of her 30 nieces and nephews. ..In Genesis where God instructs Adam and Eve to, "Multipy and replenish the earth" the Laestadians were certainly listening.

The party drew a crowd of "AG's" (aggressive young lesbians) who are heavily influenced by the macho culture of gangsta' rap and their "femme" girlfriends and admirers. The portraits are a study in the relationship and role play between the girls.
