Ash-Lee Henderson, Jared Story, Tanya Turner, Willie Dodson, Will Wichham, and Glenn Collins, activists with Mountain Justice and Climate Ground Zero locked down to mining equipment just before dawn on May 23, 2009,Kim Kirkbride and Mathew Louis-Rosennberg acted as police liaison and support. The activists locked down for 5 hours and were subsequently arrested by the Boone County Sheriff's office. All told, ten law enforcement officers from three separate agencies responded to the protest on Kayford Mountain.
