To roughly paraphrase the famous Belarusian folk poet Yanka Kupala, writing of his oppressed countrymen a century ago - who are these Belarusians? Where are they going? What do they want?

These images are selects from a personal project, developed over the last nine years. Over the course of several photographic trips, what started as simple curiosity has turned into a slightly obsessive quest - to understand and portray this group of souls, isolated on the edge of Europe, still struggling to define themselves in their short post-Soviet existence.
