In the Moqattam area of greater Cairo, Egyptians hold an engagement party for someone from the community. This particular community are referred to as the "Zabaleen," or trash collectors. Mostly Coptic Christians, the Zabaleen are responsible for collecting and recycling most of Cairo's waste. Weddings, engagement parties, and other events are celebrated in the neighborhood streets.
