The second most important wetland in the lberian peninsular is The Ebro Delta with an area of 32,000 hectares. Included in category of exceptional interest by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, it is located 178 km to the south-west of Barcelona, an approximate two-hour drive by motorway. It is triangular in form with two large branching lobes to the north and south.
