WBC #7, WBO #8 welterweight Jesus Soto-Karass (21-3-3, 15 KOs), trained by Javier Capetillo and managed by Francisco Espinoza (same as Margarito), scored an eighth round TKO over WBC #9 ranked David Estrada (22-5, 13 KOs), who is trained by Evangelista Cotto (trainer and uncle of Cotto). Soto-Karass dropped Estrada in round eight and although Estrada beat the count, the bout was waved off by referee Tony Weeks at 1:03 of the round.
