I have divided my images of London into two halves, the first representing my work there between the early 1970s and 1999, a period when I lived in London or had a studio there for a majority of that time. The city always aroused my curiosity and I made frequent sorties to record its distinctive presence whether for my personal interest or for magazine features or books like "London" by Richard Trench and John Heseltine (George Philip, 1991). I have divided my images of London into two halves, the first representing my work there between the early 1970s and 1999, a period when I lived in London or had a studio there for a majority of that time. The city always aroused my curiosity and I made frequent sorties to record its distinctive presence whether for my personal interest or for magazine features or books like "London" by Richard Trench and John Heseltine (George Philip, 1991). The second section deals with more recent images as I continue to return to London with a camera on a regular basis. However, the changes that have taken place since I began working there in around 1976 are becoming more and more striking and it is intriguing to see one's own work evolve so quickly into the realms of the historical document.
