Artist Statement
My goal as a photographer is to induct globally significant stories about local people, ecologies and economies into the realm of art without sacrificing their fundamental connection to what is real. I want to throw the weight of reality behind a series of sharply cinematic photographs to produce honest journalism that nonetheless pierces the emotional skin. My work is of a concerned nature - I am committed to issues of the environment, threatened cultures, globalization and social progress - but I am equally committed to art, humor, and exploring the wild tapestry of life.
