While over 70% of the Earth's surface is covered by water, only 2.5% of it is fresh, and an even smaller amount is fit for human consumption. Canada is home to the third largest supply of the world?s fresh water. British Columbia alone has nearly 500 major rivers and tributaries that drain west from the continental divide into the Pacific Ocean, as well as countless lakes and marshes.
The Cayoosh River, shown here, flows from BC's Coast Mountains towards the town of Lillooet before entering the mighty Fraser River and then out to the Pacific Ocean.
