Sidney Spit, located at the north end of Sidney Island, is one of the finest beaches in the Victoria region. Sand beaches, salt marshes, tidal flats, grassy meadows and outstanding views surround this area which is now part of the newly-formed Gulf Islands National Park Reserve. The Gulf Islands' Mediterranean-like climate, with its dry summers, moderate winter rainfall, and more than 2000 hours of annual sunshine make this a prime destination for kayaking, sailing, pleasure boating and other water sports.
