About Mark Abouzeid
Mark Abouzeid travels the globe bringing his particular view in photos and words to readers of international magazines including La Nazione (Italy), The New York Times, Washington Post, Dove (Italy), Die Spiegel (Germany), The Italian (UK), South China Morning Post (HK), Sydney Morning Herald (Aust), South Florida Gourmet and many more.
Mark Abouzeid’s career in communications spans over 25 years and includes photography, design, PR and editorial. Since 1998, he has concentrated his efforts on photojournalism leveraging his deep understanding of international economics, tourism destinations, world cultures, social issues and consumer trends.
For his work and special projects, Mark has received numerous awards including special recognition by the Italian Association of Professional Photographers in 2008 and a Peace Prize from the Region of Puglia for “Nemico Fratello”, a traveling exhibit and lecture series promoting positive imagery of the Arab World. He is a teacher of Photojournalism at the prestigious TheDarkRoom Academy in Florence and is a fashion trend researcher for top clothing labels.

Biography
Born in Princeton, New Jersey, Mark Abouzeid began traveling at 10 months of age and, to date, has visited over 25% of the world including six continents and the arctic polar cap. The son of an international businessman and the grandson of a published writer, he quickly developed three concentrations which would continue throughout his career: International Finance, Innovation & Technology and Photojournalism.
Having received a BA from New York University and an MBA from Georgetown University, in 1983 he enterred the world of finance as a Gold Trader for Citicorp. Shortly thereafter, he joined the M & A team of Chase Manhattan Bank, a career which would seem him move to Asia advising on some of the largest acquisitions of that time. After seven years with Chase, Mark retired from Investment Banking, opting instead to teach international finance at the university level and to advise internet start-ups on strategic development. Today, Abouzeid advises corporate clients of SEPA International on strategic issues relating to the changing european landscape and regularly produces research whitepapers.
Abouzeid’s work in technology innovation began in 1994 with his first internet start-up: AboutLiving, a lifestyle portal named one of the top 500 sites on the internet by 1998. With it’s sale in that same year, he turned his attention to internet start-ups, advising venture capitalists on strategies for maximizing their technology business model. His work led to development of a unique theory on Disruptive Innovation, the manifesto of which was co-published in 2004 with Carmen Ciciriello. This work continues to date.
Mark Abouzeid’s work in communications spans his entire 25 year career. He has designed communication and press strategies for numerous clients including DeepBridge Content Solutions, the BOC Group, SEPA International and others. Since 1998, he has concentrated his efforts on photojournalism leveraging his deep understanding of travel destinations, world cultures, economics, lifestyle trends, and editorial workflow. He is regularly published in international journals and web e-zines.
Abouzeid lives in Florence, Tuscany.
