BIO-ILLUSTRATIONS

I have always enjoyed botanical illustrations from the 17th and 18th centuries. The combination of delicacy and scientific accuracy appeals to me, and I have tried to achieve the same effect in these photographic images. From an aesthetic standpoint, it feels rather like looking at the gemstone, removed from the setting of the ring, floating in space, with nothing to accentuate it other than the subject's own substance and beauty.
