The Yukon National Wildlife Refuge tundra and lakes. The Refuge is known to be the larges delta in the US. It is a major nesting area for birds from all over during a few hectic summer months. In areas as in this photograph just up from the Native Village of Kipnuk one can easily get the impression that there is more water than dry land. There are no access roads into the refuge, all summer access is by small skiffs or by plane and in winter snow machine.
