Paulino Neves, Maranhão, Brazil, Sunday, Nov. 02, 2008...The Ecomotion Pro is one of the largest and most challenging adventure races in the world, in 2008 it was chosen to be the AR World Championship, the Adventure Race world championship...It was held in 2008 in the states of Ceará, Piauí and Maranhão, in Brazil, a very hot and challenging area with big sand dunes, sierras, river deltas and windy seas were the temperatures rise to as high as 48ºC (118 Fahrenheit)...A total of 240 athletes from 18 different countries, composed the 60 teams that left the race start in "Barra dos Tatus" in Maranhão on November 2, 2008... It took 3 days and 21 hours of ruthless race against highly competitive teams for New Zealand team OrionHealth.com to reach the finish line in Jericoacoara in first place. ..Athletes raced over 520 kilometres (323 miles) of mixed ground with disciplines ranging from trekking, mountain biking, sailing, rope techniques and kayaking. The race ended on October 27th of 2007 in Jericoacoara (CE).
