A primate locally called macaco-prego (Cebus apella) but also known by the names of Tufted Capuchin, Brown Capuchin or Black-capped Capuchin, stares at the camera in a hot and humid forest close to the Cuiabá River in the Brazilian Pantanal region. Porto Cercado, Mato Grosso, Brazil, Friday, Nov. 04, 2005...The Tufted Capuchin is one of the most widespread species of primates in America. They are omnivorous species that normally live in groups of up to (and sometimes more than) 20 individuals. They can get quite used to the human presence and even disturb people who live near their habitat.
