In the summer of 2004, two months before President George W. Bush's re-election, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in New York City; some as delegates of the Republican National Convention at the Madison Square Garden; the majority, however, arrived as protesters.

From August 26 through September 2 some hundreds events took place, including massive marches, activist meetings, public forums, art exhibitions, and film screenings, while debates and vigils went on every day....
