FOSSILS

Theropod Dinosaur Track in the Dakota Sandstone. These tracks were made on a coastal plain beside the Western Interior Seaway during the Cretaceous period, about 100 million years ago. Theropods were bipedal carnivores with ostrich-like feet. No bones were recovered at this site so it was not possible for paleontologists to identify a particular species of theropod. Dinosaur Ridge National Natural Landmark. Near Morrison, Jefferson Co., Colo.
