Visitors queuing up to enter the museum. Visitors must by tickets in advance and the museum is regularly sold out at weekends and on public holidays. The Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, western Tokyo opened in 2001. It was designed by animator Miyazaki Hayao and receives around 650,500 visitors each year.
