The first in April when employees went on strike claiming decreased range of visiting family and wage increases. Another in June with the indigenous occupation of the construction site for 21 days, demanding the fulfillment of the conditions that amenizariam the impacts of the work in their villages. The third happened in August, by decision of justice, with the Ministerio Publico Federal complaints. The fourth, in September, with a new occupation of fishermen and indigenous for just over a month. The last strike took place in November, after a meeting of the workers who refused the proposal made by the union in accordance with the consortium, which resulted in three days of fire and destruction on two main plots, and Belo Monte Pimental. The company suspended work and released the workmen claiming lack of security...Belo Monte is one of about 60 projects of dams that the Brazilian government has planned for the Amazon in order to generate electricity for its booming economy, basically for industries. Considered the most important work of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) of the federal government, Belo Monte consumed so far about $ 2 billion ($ 5 billion), representing only 20% of its budget. Recently, the National Development Bank (BNDES) has released $ 10.5 billion (U.S. $ 22.5 billion) for the consortium that manages the construction of Belo Monte, 7 billion will be transferred by the Federal Savings and 2 billion by BTG Pactual. The rest will come exclusively from the BNDES, with public funds...According to the BNDES, this is the largest funding approved in the country, and with each release of funds, the Norte Energia must demonstrate environmental compliance project.
