With the demise of the town paper mill, many store fronts in Millinocket, Maine now sit vacant. The collapse of the paper industry has left thousands of area residents unemployed and has created a budgetary crisis for the town government, leaving schools, libraries, and emergency services underfunded. On Thursday, June 19, parts and machinery from the mill, including the paper machine, were auctioned off to settle tax debts.
