A Sylmar valley home in the 13600 block of Dronfield Ave where a day long stand off between the home owner, Sergio O. Salazar, and LAPD took place. .LAPD officers initially came to home for a domestic violence call. Salazar shot one of the officers, Steven Jenkins, once in the face and once in the torso. .A SAWT team was called in to the scene where they deployed a new piece of equipment, the BatCat. The BatCat is a giant fork lift/crane that can be operated remotely. It was used to claw apart the home in order to find the suspect, who was found shot to death inside the upstairs bathroom..This was the first time the BatCAt was deployed, it is valued at $1 million dollars.
