West Virginia State Troopers were out in full force today, June 23, for an anti-Mountaintop Removal rally and protest today that culminated in over two dozen arrests in front of Massey Energy owned Goals Coal plant in Sundial, WV. The protest rally at Marsh Fork Elementary School featured musicians and speakers -- both were constantly interrupted by the counter-protesters throughout the day. The peaceful demonstrators marched in silence, two by two, towards the Massey Energy-operated Goals Coal Plant, where about 200 coal miners and their wives were waiting for the peaceful protesters, including NASA scientist James Hansen, actor and activist Daryl Hannah, and 94 year old West Virginia statesman Ken Hechler, who were among the 29 people arrested.
