Dragør (Dragoer), only 10 KM outside Copenhagen, was in the Middle Age an important harbour for landing of the Baltic herrings. "Dragør" means a sandy beach where the fishing boats are dragged on land. Ducth settlers built in 1520 the harbour, which in the 19th century became one of the largest in the country.
