27 February 2004 - Calipatria, California - Unusable steam vents from one of CalEnergy's geothermal generating plants in the Salton Sea Known Geothermal Resource Area (SSKGRA) in the Imperial Valley 125 miles west of San Diego. According to CalEnergy's Vincent Signorotti, despite its industrial appearance the geothermal process releases no harmful emmisions into the environment. The steam being released is commerically unusable due to its low pressure and temperature. .(© 2004 Michael A. Mariant)
