  • The Wire Duck, Photograph 2001, Sculpture, 1999...Media: Copper Wire Hanger, Green Vellum paper...Artist: Jack Howard, Irish / American - 1972Ð..Artist Statement: A study in form and function and seeing the wire hanger in a multi-planar space, freed from its mundane life of servitude upon which one hangs damp undergarments, the wire hanger is free to express its true nature, that of a duck that has been cruelly been flattened to a life of servitude, upon which is thrust dirty knickers. A question: Is the wire hanger duck, unto itself the "Art" or is the finished photographic image the "Art" and the physical form of the wire duck simply an adjunct item to the photographic image?..Or simply a stock shot to illustrate an overworked concept such as "Outside the box..."
