  • A Cacao pod in the rainforest of southern Belize -- the heartland of traditional Mayan cacao production. Cacao is one of the few cash crops in the poor region.  With growing world demand for organic chocolate, Cadburys promises Mayan farmers it will buy all the cacao they grow, and pay premium prices for it.  Much of it ends up in Cadbury's  Mayan Gold chocolate bars. By photographer Todd Shapera

Southern Belize  is the heartland of traditional Mayan cacao production.  Local farmers sell their organic, rainforest-grown cacao at premium prices to Cadburys.
