The snowboarding competition attracts some of the top riders in the sport and aims to be the most progressive competitions in snowboarding. Chas Guldemond won the Steel and Sky Rails Competition on Friday and Andreas Wiig won the Slopestyle portion on Saturday. Besides being the location of the event for six years now, Vail was ranked as the number one ski resort in a Ski Magazine reader's poll for the 2006/2007 season. U.S. skier Bode Miller won the event with a time of 1:46.15 making up for a disappointing finish Thursday when he led the field in the Combined but missed a gate in the slalom portion of the event. Swiss skier Didier Cuche finished second with a time of 1:46.30 and Miller's teammate Steven Nyman finished third with a time of 1:46.48.   • SHOT 5/4/08 9:46:52 AM - Kathryn Johnson (right) of Denver, Co. and Kirsten ride their mountain bikes along the White Rim Trail. The multi-day mountain biking trip through Canyonlands National Park on the White Rim Trail is one of the most scenic and truly unforgettable rides in the country. The trail is a 103-mile loop on a jeep road through Canyonlands National Park that passes through some of the most beautiful canyons and scenery in all of the Southwest. Technically, this trail is fairly easy but the length (and a few stiff climbs) means you need to be in good condition to complete the ride.   • SHOT 11/29/2007 - U.S. skier Bode Miller catches air off the Red Tail jump during the downhill run of the Men's Super Combined at the 2007/08 Charles Schwab Birds of Prey ski race in Beaver Creek, Co. The event was won by Swiss skier Daniel Albrecht (2:00.26) with French skier Jean-Baptiste Grange finishing second (2:00.93) and Czech skier Ondrej Bank finishing third ((2:01.23). US skier Bode Miller finished just out of the medals in fourth (2:01.28) and Ted Ligety finished eighth (2:01.67). Thomas (TJ) Lanning finished tenth (2:01.89). Miller, always a controversial figure in skiing, quit the U.S. Ski Team in the offseason to race on his own. Blair Morgan (born October 9, 1975 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan) is a multi-time CMRC Canadian National championship-winning motocross racer. He is also a multi-time World Snocross snowmobile champion and a 5-times X-Games gold medalist. Blair is a fan-favorite in the sport for his sheer speed and determination. Bleiler, a hometown favorite, won the event with a score of 93.33. The 12th annual winter action sports competition features athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money is skiing, snowboarding and snowmobile. Numerous events were broadcast live and seen in more than 120 countries. The event will remain in Aspen, Co. through 2010. Gretchen aspired to compete in the Olympic Games from a very young age, and found her passion in snowboarding at age 11 (1992). She has been riding ever since, became professional in 1996 and is currently recognized as a role model and pioneer in the sport. Among her accomplishments, Gretchen jump-started the invert revolution for female riders as the first to land a Crippler 540 in competition, and won more halfpipe competitions in 2003, 2005 and 2006 than any other female snowboarder.   • M.O. Alford, 35, of Nederland rides on the Hobbit Trail 1 in the West Magnolia Trail System near Nederland on Wednesday August 2, 2006. The eight to ten miles of trails in the system were ridden illegally for a number of years until the Forest Service incorporated the trails into their system about two years ago. Some of the top names in snowboarding competed Friday through Sunday in three different events - Superpipe, Slopestyle and a Rail Jam. Erik Leines of Big Lake, Minn. makes his way over a kink in one of the more difficult rails on the Slopestyle course Sunday during the first of two runs in the Finals. Men's Superpipe finals are on Tuesday evening.   • Skateboarders watch on as a pair of skaters go head-to-head in a Game of Skate, a bracket-stlye game like Horse in basketball, in which they each have to exactly replicate a successfully landed flip trick with their board. The winner of the game got $150 from a local skate shop. Denver skateboarders celebrated Go Skateboarding Day Wednesday June 21, 2006 with a rally on the steps of the State Capitol and a convoy of skateboarders down the 16th Street Mall to the Denver Skatepark. The third annual event attracted hundreds of skaters to the park for a day of skateboarding, bands, contests and vendors.
