Concerned that publicity about the suicides might encourage copycat behavior, he has kept quiet about the matter. But on the 70th anniversary of the first Golden Gate Bridge suicide, Holmes released a 10-year study revealing statistics on the more than 1,250 people who have leapt to their death, hoping the attention will encourage construction of a suicide barrier at the landmark bridge.
