Dootch and others occupied the embassy for over 5 years, protesting at the development of sacred Aboriginal land on disused land on the urbanised coastal strip. After many court cases, and the arson of teh embassy the Sandon Point Aboriginal Tent Embassy was successful in securing a Decalaration of Aboriginal Place by the government.
