  • Portrait of U.S. Army SPC Daniel Perry July 11, 2008. Perry was stationed in Ramadi, Iraq when a bunker exploded and collapsed onto him during an attack. Daniel was trying to pull another wounded soldier to safety at the time of the collapse. He suffered traumatic brain injury, shrapnel to the his face, neck, arms and body, permanent hearing loss in one ear and permanent vision loss to his left eye. By photographer Tom Sperduto

  • Portraits of U.S. Army retired PFC Marissa Strock June 30, 2008..Strock lost both her legs while serving in Iraq November 24, 2005 when the up-armored humvee that she was gunning in was hit by a command detonated IED  that was buried in the road. Four 1.55 artillery rounds ripped through the vehicle taking the lives of SSG Steven Reynolds and SPC Marc Delgado. .Strock has been helped by and continues to receive support by the Wounded Warrior Project..The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project's mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.   • Jamel Daniels, from Manhattan, NY,  June 21, 2007.<br />
Daniels, a former Marine Corporal, deployed to Iraq with the second Battalion second Marine division, and was on a routine patrol in Iraq when his Humvee was struck by an IED killing several other occupants of the vehicle and resulting in the amputation of his left leg, and the fusion of his right ankle and forearm.<br />
Daniels today is a spokesperson for the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist men and women of the armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world. By photographer Tom Sperduto
