  • Sunday, February 8, 2004.Melanie Kimmel, 11 of Baltimore at center, leaps into the air with other dance students during a "master class" conducted by Gregory Nuber of the Mark Morris Dance Group, at the Stand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, Sunday afternoon.  About 30 dance students, ages 10-18, from the Ballet Theatre of Lancaster, the Greater York Center for Dance, the William Penn Performing Arts Institute and the Experimental Movement Group took part in the one and half hour long session with the professional dancer, who was performing at the theater Sunday evening. As part of their outreach and education program, the Strand-Capitol holds "master classes" whenever an incoming performance will lend a teacher.  For more information about possible upcoming "master classes" contact the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center and ask about their outreach and education program. By photographer John Pavoncello

The show continues in Memorial Hall at the York Expo Center Thursday 69.m.-9:30p.m., Friday 12 noon-9:30p.m., Saturday 10a.m.-9:30p.m. and sunday 12 noon- 5p.m.  Admission is $6, children $2, under 6 are free.   • Monday, May 10, 2004.Members of the U.S. Army Honor Guard carry the flag drapped casket of Spc. Martin Kondor to be transported to the cemetary following a memorial service, Monday, at Valley View Alliance Church.  The 20 year old Eastern High School graduate was killed in action in a roadside bombing in Iraq, April 29.  More than 400 friends and family attended the service. By photographer John Pavoncello

Nearly 100 friends, family and neighbors came out to remember the son, friend and schoolmate with candles, music and prayers. Andrews is one of fourty-two Army Reserve soldiers of the 453rd Finance Battalion (Detachments 1 and 2), of New Cumberland, PA., who are leaving for an 18 month tour of duty in Iraq. The 453rd Finance Battalion has the mission of paying soldiers and vendors, providing currency for military businesses, exchanging foreign currencies, answering pay inquiries for soldiers and providing banking support as needed..Leaving the New Cumberland U.S. Army Reserve Center, the soldiers will travel to Fort McCoy in Wisconsin for six weeks of additional training before heading to Iraq. Workers set up more than 20 snow guns on the Minuteman slope creating an overlapping haze of fine snow, which over the next several days, should provide enough snow to open the slope Friday.   • A rainbow shines on North Codorus Township fire fighter Tim Stine as he stows fire hose during the calm after yesterday evening's thunderstorm. Emergency crews in the area were busy with accidents, fire alarms and wires down following the storm which brought wind, heavy rain and some hail to the Hanover area.
