My essay on undocumented immigration from Mexico to the U.S. began in 1994 when the Clinton Administration launched Operation Gatekeeper to shut down the border in San Diego. My work has taken me to border towns in Texas for the NY Times Magazine and into Arizona, California and Tijuana for Time Magazine and others. The work has been exhibited several times overseas and fourteen images reside in the permanent collection at the California Museum of Photography. I continue to document this important issue.
