Immigration along the US-Mexico Border(74 images)
My essay on undocumented immigration from Mexico to the U.S. began in 1994 when the Clinton Administration launched Operation Gatekeeper to shut down the border in San Diego. My work has taken me to border towns in Texas for the NY Times Magazine and into Arizona, California and Tijuana for Time Magazine and others.   • Migrants find a temporary respite at Casa del Migrante in Tijuana from the difficulties crossing the U.S./Mexico border. Many of the migrants suffer psychological trauma from failed crossings and from being away from their families, said Father Fanzolato who headed the Catholic shelter. The shelter provides one hot meal per day, prayer services and a place to sleep before the migrants continue north into California. By photographer Todd Bigelow
