The Jazz Funeral of Robert Clark in New Orleans on March19, 2006. The Single Men's Social Aid and Pleasure Club threw Clark a Jazz Funeral with the Rebirth Brass Band playing. The Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs formed in the 1800's as a social safety net for African Americans when it was impossible for them to secure insurance. Members pay monthly due and can expect financial help for the society in time of need, as well as a proper burials. The revival of the jazz funerals and the second line parades marks the return of many residents to New Orleans after Katrina.
