  • Afghanistan, Kaboul, Kabul....Sediqa vient de donner naissance a une petite fille sans vie. Son petit corps traine sur un des lits avnt que Pari Ghul, l'enroule dans un vulgaire torchon.....Born in Kabul. 99% of Afghan women give birth in their house. The only public Afghan maternity is the Malali Maternity in Kabul. Around 100 babies born there everyday. The maternity only got 300 beds so the women cannot stay longer than 6 hours. They give birth in one of the three rusted bed in the dirty delivery room. The beds are always full. As soon as one goes, another arrives. When they finish they got 15 minutes to rest. Then they put their nakers back on without any wash and leave with their newborn baby in a taxi. The fathers are not allowed in the hospital. They wait outside until nurse call them to announce the sex of the baby. The nurse will receive a tips if it's a boy but none if it's a girl.....Sediqa just gave birth to this dead baby girl. Her body will be put in a cloth before to be forgotten on on the floor. If the family wishes, they will take the small body back home to bury it. By photographer veronique de viguerie

Naphiza ne tente meme pas de lui jetter un regard. Elle n'est pas interessee. Elle est terrifiee. Que va dire son mari? Cette petite fille, c'est sa honte.   • Peshawar, Pakistan....2 millions d'Afghans se sont refugies a Peshawar durant les guerres contre les Sovietiques puis les Talibans. Aujourd'hui ils sont 50 000. Pourtant pour certains, le retour dans leur pays n'est pas une option. Arrives demunis, ils ont du s'endetter aupres des proprietaires de briquetterie pour survivre.Ils sont aujourd'hui prisonniers d'un pret qu'ils n'arrivent pas a rembourser.....A Mattni, a quelques kilometres de Peshawar au Pakistan, environ 20 familles Afghanes travaillent dans cette usine de briques. Il en existe 200 de ce type autour de Peshawar. ....Djan Mohamed (50) pose fierement a cote de son poste de television avec sa petite-fille Spogma (7). Kuchi, peuple nomade Afghan, il etait specialement persecute par les sovietiques. Il a du fuir Jalalabad (Afghanistan) en 1979 lors de l'invasion Russe. Comme les autres il a du emprunter 50 000 roupies pour se payer son mariage. Depuis 26 ans il fabrique des briques pour rembourser son pret. Dans cette minuscule cahute de pisee il vit avec ses trois fils, sa belle-fille et ses deux petits enfants... By photographer veronique de viguerie

  • Kafkar coal mines...Afghanistan, Pul-i-Khumri, Baglan....Kafkar coal mines in Baglan. In the North of Afghanistan there are 11 coal mines. Four of them are the propriety of the government the others are illegal and owned by the warlords. Kafkar is one of the legal one. The conditions are absolutly horrific. The material is really old and dated. Accident are very frequent. There is no contact possible between the men underground and the ones on the top. They have only a few lamp to check the presence of carbon dioxyde. On the average, each man get gazed 10 times in a year...
