The Philippines has long had a turbulent history of occupation after occupation. However some of the most beautiful tropical paradise spots exist in Boracay, Subic, and Tagatay. Poverty is rampant, with slums and shanties dotting the landscape. Cockfighting is a national pastime too, although it's a little more barbaric than a Sunday watching college football.
