• Konya, Turkey 22 September 2008.Turkish muslims praying in front of a relic of Muhammad in the Mevlana Mausoleum..Sufism is a mystical tradition of Islam. Also considered as a spiritual and ascetic movement of Islam with esoteric doctrines appeared during the VIII century. The Muslim Sufis are people who privilege internalization, the love of god, contemplation and wisdom. A practitioner of this tradition is generally known as a Sufi, another name used for the Sufi seeker is ?dervish?. The Sufi movement has spanned several continents and cultures over a millennium, at first expressed through Arabic, then through Persian, Turkish, and a dozen other languages. Sufi orders, most of which are Sunni in doctrine, trace their origins from the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, through his cousin Ali or his father-in-law Abu Bakr..According to some modern proponents, the Sufi philosophy is universal in nature and its roots predate the arising of the modern-day religions. .The whirling dance or Sufi whirling that is associated with dervishes, is the practice of the Mevlevi Order in Turkey, and is just one of the physical methods used to try and reach religious ecstasy..Condemned by traditional Islam, the Sufism cultivates the mystery; the idea being that Muhammad would have received at the same time the Koran and esoteric revelations..Photo: EZEQUIEL SCAGNETTI ©.www.ezequiel-scagnetti.com By photographer EZEQUIEL SCAGNETTI

 • Buenos Aires, Argentina 19 August 2009
A couple dance tango in the Milonga "Porteno y Bailarin", a traditional tango club in Buenos Aires.Argentine tango is a unique social dance and a musical genre that originated in Argentina and moved to Uruguay and to the rest of the world later on.Even though the present forms developed in Argentina and Uruguay, they were also exposed to influences reimported from Europe and North America. There are records of XVIII and early XIX century tango styles in Cuba and Spain, while there is a flamenco tangos dance that may share a common ancestor in a minuet-style European dance. Consequently there is a good deal of confusion and overlap between the styles as they are now danced - and fusions continue to evolve.
