  • FAYETTEVILLE, N.C, Aug. 6 - Airman First Class Cassandra Hernandez, 20 of Houston, Texas, says she was raped by three enlisted airmen after a party on May 13, 2006 at Pope Air Force Base. She is now facing charges of "indecent acts with another" and "underage drinking." ."I did everything I was told to do in that situation, and the system failed me," she says. .Hernandez claims that she originally decided not to testify against the men because she was emotionally traumatized and wanted to move on with her life but will not admit to indecent acts.   • SSgt. Ian Newland, 27, received multiple wounds when a grenade was thrown into his Humvee on December 4, 2006,  in Adhamiyah, Iraq. His gunner, Spc. Ross McGinnis, covered the grenade with his own body and has been nominated for the Medal of Honor. Newland, who is critical of the lack of care given to returning wounded, is now in his new home in Centennial, Colorado with his wife Erin, and children: Haley (5) and Dryden (3). Released from Walter Reed Hospital, he rushed back to Germany to be there for his comrades on their return from Iraq.
