Many Kikuyus could be seen about town packing their belongings and moving along to salvage what they could. Clashes erupted between the tribes resulting in countless injuries and an unkown number of deaths. GSU and military units moved in to clear out large groups of people but let the houses burn.   • A young Luo man was slashed by Kikuyus with a machete in Naivasha in a spate of tribal violence...Violence in Naivasha erupted on the 27th of January as Kikuyus attacked and evicted countless Luos from their communities. A house was burned with 18 persons inside and countless were slashed at will in a bloody three days of revenge killings for post-election violence. Police did virtually nothing to contain the violence and many Luos were camped out at the prison, a hotel and other parts of town waiting to be rescued and driven to other parts of the country for safety. Kikuyus who were evicted from the houses in Rift Valley have no ancestral homes to go to because they bought properties and set up businesses in other provinces sometimes several generations ago. Unlike Luos who were evicted from Kikuyu areas, who left their ancestral lands to seek temporary employment, it is not known where they will go from the camps.
