Home to over 400,000 people, Ventanilla is Peru's largest shantytown. It is located in the hills of the coastal desert north of Lima. Ignored for years, residents are finally starting to see services such as street lights and police patrols. Ventanilla, however, remains a place of poverty, crime, and hardship.
