The protestors were calling for clean renewable energy. Two days before the planned protest, the US government announced that the plant would be converted to Natural Gas.   • G20 Climate Camp.April 1, 2009  Bishopsgate, London, UK .Photo: Robert van Waarden....A young 'Climate Camper' chases a balloon as police maintain a watchful eye on the peaceful UK Climate Camp. During the G20, thousands of people set up camp in front of the European Climate Exchange to protest the carbon trading schemes that many feel will fail to solve the climate crisis, while generating windfall profits for traders.  The camp maintained a peaceful, carnivel atmosphere until early in the evening when police cut off all access points and didn't allow anyone to enter or leave the camp..   • G20 Climate Camp.April 1, 2009  Bishopsgate, London, UK .Photo: Robert van Waarden....Riot police attack the peaceful demonstrators of Climate Camp during the G20 in London. The protestors had set up camp in front of the European Climate Exchange, protesting against the proposed carbon trading schemes that many feel will not solve the climate crisis, while generating windfall profits for traders. The camp maintained a policy of non-violence, despite police actions to the contrary. Continuing to chant, "This is not a riot, this is not a riot" the protestors were forcefully evicted from the site late in the evening after the mainstream media had left.
