RAW? JPG? PSD? Which file should I upload?
PhotoShelter supports all major image formats including JPG, TIF, RAW, PSD and PDF. We recommend that you upload your highest quality images to your archive.
I shoot RAW+JPG. Does PhotoShelter automatically associate these files? Is it better to upload one vs. the other?
PhotoShelter does not associate files together with the same name, but different extensions. However, there is no need to upload the JPG if you have a RAW file. PhotoShelter creates the JPG for you (a screen res and thumbnail). If you grant "high-resolution download" to your client, you can decide whether to grant them access to the RAW, or to a PhotoShelter-generated JPG. PhotoShelter even embeds your IPTC caption information into the generated JPG.
What resolution should the images I upload be?
Because PhotoShelter is an archival system, we recommend uploading files at their native (largest) size. If you've retouched and/or upsized the image, we recommend uploading that file.
Can I Upload DNGs?
Yes, you may upload and display DNGs without a problem, however you should be aware that there are complications with the delivery of DNG files. PhotoShelter allows you to deliver both the original file as you have uploaded it, or JPG versions of various sizes which we generate from the original. If you choose to deliver your original DNGs, there is no issue. If you deliver them in JPG format, however, the files will be converted and delivered without any edits you may have made as this is not possible in our present conversion process.
