Photographer Directory
Overview
The contact info you share with the public and your presence in the Photographer Directory are managed from one central page.
My Contact Info
Here you may add your address, phone, and other links where you may be reached. If you choose to list any of this contact information publicly, it will appear in a dedicated area of your public PhotoShelter homepage (which is set from the right-hand column on your Website Themes).
The contact info set here also determines how you are returned in the directory's location-based searches (see below).
Photographer Directory
The directory is an opt-in list of photographers in PhotoShelter that is linked from the "Find Photos and Photographers" section on our main homepage. We do not automatically include all subscribers, because we realize that not every photographer wants to be listed. We do suggest adding yourself, however, because being in the directory maximizes your exposure, helps with your positioning in search engine results, and is a good step in marketing yourself.
The directory allows you to specify a "base" zipcode (e.g. your home/work zipcode), a travel radius, a work rate, and your photographic specialties.
Note: If you are a free PhotoShelter Starter subscriber, you must upgrade to a paid PhotoShelter subscription plan to be listed in the Directory.
The Photographer Directory allows buyers to search by specialty and proximity. For best results, link your specialties to specific galleries.
Getting Listed
To appear in the directory:- Click "My Website -> Contact Info/Directory"
- Click "Edit Entry" under "Get Listed in the Photographer Directory"
- Check the box next to "Publicly Listed"
- Fill in the other optional information
- Click "Update Entry"
What is my Homebase Zip code?
The Photographer Directory allows users to search for photographers in their area based on location and radius. In order for PhotoShelter to find photographers that match a given request, we need to know both your main zip code (U.S. Only), and the radius that you're willing to travel for a job.What if I'm located outside the US?
Our directory search supports international searches, provided that you have entered a country in the Contact Info section on this page. What is the rate field referring to? Rate is an optional field that allows you to specify your typical working rates. You can enter in a rate and a rate unit (e.g. per day, per hour, per job). These parameters are not searchable, because we do not want to exclude photographers that are not comfortable advertising rates without knowing the specifics of a job.What are specialties?
Specialties are niches of photography that you excel at. When you add a specialty, you also have the opportunity to link it to a gallery. For example, if you choose "Weddings" as a specialty, you could set up a "Best of Weddings" gallery, and link it to that specialty.If you link a specialty to a gallery, that specialty will be clickable from the Photographer Directory. Clicking on the link will take the user directly to that gallery. This is a good way to advertise yourself for a specific type of photography.
