Tell me more about the hi-res download
The Bandwidth allotment included with all PhotoShelter subscription plans gives you the option to allow "free" high-resolution downloads from your gallery invitations. For example, if you shoot a job for a magazine, you could invite the picture editor to view your gallery and give him/her the option to download the high-resolution images directly from the gallery without having to enter their credit card. The bandwidth subscription provides the ability for an editor (or your mom) to view a gallery of images and selectively download the high-resolution versions -- A very cost-effective alternative to overnighting a CD/DVD.

Is creating a gallery invitation the only way to provide a high-resolution download?
No, we offer a second, faster way for individual images. While viewing an image in an archive folder, click "Quick Download" under the "Download" tab. This will generate a one-time use URL that you can include in an e-mail, or send directly from photoshelter to your clients.Anyone that you give this link to can download the high resolution version of the image (you select JPG or original) once without having to login to PhotoShelter. The link is only valid for 72 hours for security purposes.
FAQs
How do I sign up for the Bandwidth subscription?
A bandwidth allotment is included with all subscription plans. Free PhotoShelter Starter plans are capped at 50MB bandwidth per month, while paid plans will automatically add bandwidth as needed ($5/5GB block per month). PhotoShelter members before 11/1/2006 who have not enrolled in a subscription plan yet must upgrade to a plan to add bandwidth capability to their accounts.
Do I need a merchant account or Paypal to allow high-res downloads?
No. The high-resolution download option are completely separate from the e-commerce/merchant account solution.
Does my bandwidth subscription auto-renew each month?
Yes, all subscription products are good until canceled.
Does my overage bandwidth "roll over" from month to month?
No. Overage charges are only valid for the month in which they were purchased.
Can I give the client a file with different dimensions?
No. The high-resolution download gives the client the originally sized file. We assume that if you are granting the client this level of access, that you have a working relationship with them. Therefore, we only offer the maximum dimensions.
Can I grant high-res download to a gallery that is public?
If you invite a person to a gallery that is "Public" or "Invite Only," and grant them high-res download, they will be able to get the images. If you change the gallery to "Private," they will not be able to access the gallery under any condition.
If you change the gallery to "Password," they will need the gallery's password to access the images. Their invite will not suffice, and they will not be able to download the high-resolution images. For your security, we require an invite for high-resolution download so we know exactly who is downloading your images and when.
If my original image is a JPG, and I grant "original image" download, what happens?
PhotoShelter allows them to download the JPG. The only time this option is relevant is when the file isn't a JPG. For example, if you have retouched a file and uploaded a multi-layer Photoshop file which you want to give to the client, you can use this option to give them the .psd file.
Is there a way to batch or bulk download the hi-res images?
Yes, if you have granted a client download access through a gallery invitation, our trusted client feature, or you have enabled downloads via a password-protected gallery, the client will be able to download all the images within the gallery at once. Their browser must support java to use the batch downloader. What does the Quick Download link do and how do I access it?
If you have a bandwidth subscription, you can create a one-time use URL that you can email to a client. Just view any image in your archive and under the "DOWNLOAD" tab, click "Quick Download." This is a link to the high-resolution version of the image, and is an easy way to give access on a one-off basis. Using the "quick download," avoids having to create a invitation through a gallery.
