Arnaldo Reis, 45, in front of his home at the Jardim Edite favela in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 17 April 2009. The government wants all of the residents of the favela to leave their homes so the land can be redeveloped. The city has offered residents money to leave, but it is often not enough to find a suitable home. The neighborhood was once home to more than 550 families and now fewer than 70 remain. Reis and his family were told they must leave their home today. They moved their possessions to another home in the favela where they can stay for two weeks, then they have to find a place elsewhere.
