Bio
Aaron M. Cohen is a freelance photographer currently based in New York City. He received an MA in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University, and in 2003, attended the International Center of Photography's Documentary Photography and Photojournalism program. While he was a student there, he interned at Magnum Photos. He is represented by Corbis and Sipa Press.
Magazine clients include Geo (Germany), Time Out New York, Esquire (Russia), Fortune Small Business, The Independent: Film and Video Monthy, Photographer's Forum, and The Sun Magazine, as well as the children's magazines GeoLino and Time Out New York Kids. His work has also appeared on VanityFair.com and Time.com. Nonprofit clients include Habitat for Humanity and the World Future Society (in the U.S.) and The Children's Movement for Creative Education (in Bosnia).
In addition, his photographs have been featured in a number of group exhibitions, including the 2006 Gjon Mili Prize-International Exhibition in Kosovo, the Humble Arts Foundation's Group Show No. 18, Rayko Gallery's 2nd Annual International Juried Plastic Camera Show, and the Visual AIDS Postcards from the Edge benefit in New York. Three pictures from "The Communitarians" were chosen for American Photography 24. Aaron was selected as one of the top student photographers on the America 24/7 project, and his images appeared in both New York 24/7 and New Jersey 24/7. He is the recipient of a 2007 Artist Grant from the Puffin Foundation.
