Bio
After a four-year enlistment in the Marine Corps, I earned a B.S. at Portland State University.
In 1993, I was hired full-time as a staff photographer at The Columbian newspaper in Vancouver, Washington, where I worked for five years.
In 1997, I was hired as a staff photographer at The Register-Guard where we were recognized as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for our coverage of the Thurston High School shooting.
In December, 2007, I accepted a position as a staff photographer at The Oregonian in Portland, Ore.
My work has been published in a broad range of publications such as National Geographic Traveler, Sports Illustrated, Washington Post, ESPN The Magazine, The Sporting News, and U.S. News and World Report.
In 2006, I was a featured speaker and team leader at the Eddie Adams Workshop. I'm now on Apple's Aperture Advisory board where I lecture and submit feedback.
My wife, Carrie and I have twins named Cole and Greta. They were born in August 1998. They are ridiculously cute, smart and talented. Seriously.
