  • Joel Maney worked over 25 years for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, where he started in patrol and moved on to work in the narcotics unit, the vice squad, and as a detective in the nuisance abatement division. Because of his experience in the narcotics division, Maney worked extensively with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), training personel both domestically and abroad. After he retired from police work in 2009, Maney started his second career as an Investigator for the Broward County Public Defender's Office, where he was worked for the past three years. Maney said his work effectiveness stems from his "gift of gab", where he can talk his way into, or out of, most situations.

  • Al Smith's resumé from his undercover cop days are the patched over bullet holes in building facades, quiet neighborhoods that once crackled with gunfire and dive bars where people tried to hire Smith, who posed as a hitman, to kill for them.
