Antoni's father was taken away by the nazis, his mother hid among the children and managed to stay behind as one of the only adults in the village. Antoni, his mother and siblings survived the rest of the war hiding and begging for food.

  • Krystyna Gil, 66 - As a child Krystyna and her grandmother were the only survivors from their family, of a Nazi massacre in their village. Krystyna with the list of all the 92 people who died in the massacre that day, 17 of the names are her family members, including her mother (name visible just under the glasses), her father, sister and brother. Her grandfather was shot in their home after refusing to come with the Nazis.
