Lumen is an international photographers cooperative with members in France, Ireland, Norway, Estonia, Switzerland, Malysia, Germany and Italy.
Since 2007 LUMEN has worked in Curonian Spit, Lithuania; West Cork, Ireland; Berlin, Germany; and Hiiumaa, Estonia.
LUMEN was founded in 2007 by three photographers who sought a fresh alternative to the established photograpic workshop movement, creates a different challenge in a different environment.
The core of LUMENcoop is the annual LUMENworkshop, held annually in a different international location, facilitated and chosen by an annually elected member. Attending memembers participate not only as photographers, but also as critics, mentors and project managers for each other.
The annual LUMEN workshop has 4 objectives.
* To produce a body of work reflecting the chosen location through the individual eyes of LUMEN photographers.
* To give each photographer the opportunity to photograph in a new and challenging location whilst learning from his peers.
* To provide exposure for the group as a whole via exhibitions, publication and web exposure.
* To have a lot of fun somewhere new!
Entirely self-funding LUMENcoop exists solely for the development and promotion of its members.
Membership is through personal nomination by a current member and majority approval of the current members.
