PhotoShelter Announces Final Speakers for Luminance 2012,
A First-Of-Its-Kind Photography Event
September 12 - 13 in New York City

NASA astronaut Donald Pettit, photojournalist David Burnett, CEO of Splash News Gary Morgan, and controversial photographer Tyler Shields join lineup to speak on the future of photography

New York, NY, September 5, 2012 - PhotoShelter (, PhotoShelter, the worldwide leader in photography portfolio websites, sales, and marketing tools for photographers, announces exciting new speakers to join Luminance 2012, a fresh new conference that will bring together leading voices from across industries to answer the question: What's next for photography? The conference will take place September 12 - 13 at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York City. Tickets are selling fast, but are still available here:

Joining the roster of distinguished thought leaders and innovators are NASA astronaut Donald Pettit, who will discuss his role capturing some of the most iconic images from the International Space Station, as well as renowned photojournalist David Burnett who will speak about film photography and mixing techniques in a time of technical change. Others new to the lineup include Gary Morgan, CEO and Co-Founder of Splash News, who will tackle the influence of the celebrity news industry; and vert skater-turned-professional photographer Tyler Shields who will showcase his controversial work and engage the audience in a lively back and forth.

Pettit, Burnett, Morgan, and Shields complete the Luminance 2012 lineup, joining leaders from Facebook, Google, Blurb, Behance, 20x200, Hipstamatic, and more. A total of 26 speakers will present in a TED-like format for 20 minutes each over the course of two days. The full list of speakers is here:

To kick off the event, a limited-attendance photography workshop will be held on September 11, 2012 at Root Drive-In Studios, with renowned pro photographers Joe McNally, Zack Arias, Brian Smith, and Robert Seale, plus informative business seminars with leaders from ImageBrief, Shutterstock, Wonderful Machine, and PhotoShelter. In addition, the Luminance #ilovephotography Party will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 7 pm - 10 pm at Webster Hall in New York City. The party is open to all conference attendees and is sponsored by ImageBrief.
